Staying Safe During COVID19

Following the christmas break:

the government has asked that all adults and children in years 7 to 11 wear a suitable mask at all times when inside school buildings.

Please send your children to school with a mask, and preferably with a spare to use should the first become unusable for any reason.

We will ensure key messages are displayed on the websote homepage to allow our community to use the translation feature. If you require any letters to be translated please contact us. We will be happy to help.

COVID Guidance Updates

Please find below an overview of the most recent changes to the Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Temporary Suspension of Confirmatory PCR Tests:

From Tuesday 11th January, confirmatory PCR tests following a positive lateral flow device (LFD) test result are to be temporarily suspended.

This means that anyone who receives a positive LFD test result will be required to self-isolate immediately for 10 days and will not be required to take a confirmatory PCR test.

Please be reminded that all LFD results should be reported to NHS Test & Trace (https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result)

Isolation Guidance for Positive Cases:

The guidance surrounding self-isolation for positive cases has also changed slightly, as now, if you receive negative LFD results on day 6 and day 7 of your self-isolation period, with tests taken 24 hours apart, you will no longer have to self-isolate for the full 10 days and can come out of isolation on day 8.

Please note the first test must be taken no earlier than day 6 of the self-isolation period. If your child does receive negative LFT results on day 6 and 7, then you must email office@groveacademy.co.uk on day 7 with evidence of the negative results. Your child can then return to school on day 8 of their isolation so long as they feel well enough and no longer have a high temperature.

Secondary school students should continue to take two free NHS lateral flow tests per week, which are avaialble from school.

Grove Principles

These principles take note of the local Covid context and are cognisant that as yet the vast majority of  pupils and students have not yet been able to visit or familiarise themselves with the new school building.

  1. We will take into account advice and guidance including evidence against the tests established by COBRA, Public Health England  DfE, unions and Slough Local Authority which will include the monitoring of the R rate nationally and cases per 100,000 locally
  2. Information will be shared amongst local headteacher associations to ensure Grove has all available local information
  3. We will take into consideration Grove’s recent move into new buildings which as yet have not been occupied by the full school population.
  4. We review our risk assessments weekly and prior to opening or closing for classes, year groups and the full school
  5. These principles will be applicable for re-opening or closing of Grove Academy.
  6. Decision to fully reopen or fully close will be made by the Principal in conjunction with the CEO/Chair of Trust/Chair of Governors
  7. Decisions will be communicated in a timely fashion to pupils, students, parents, staff, LA, LGB and Trust

*Parents must ensure NHS Test and Trace guidance is followed. This included notifications received via the NHS mobile phone app.
